Saturday, August 3rd, 2013

Today I began my Road Trip to Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and then home. The 500 drive to Elko, Nevada, where I'm staying tonight was much easier than previous trips. It might be because the temperature was 85 degrees versus the 110-115 degrees the past couple road trips.

Sunday, August 4th, 2013

I left Elko, NV early this morning and drove through Pocatello, Idaho, Twin Falls, Idaho and Idaho Falls, Idaho and on to Driggs, Idaho which is right at the Wyoming border. It was another 500 mile day but it went very quickly.

Monday, August 5th, 2013

Today was a rest day. I'm staying most of the week in a very nice little condo in the town of Driggs, Idaho right at the Targee Ski Resort. It's a 45-minute drive from Jackson Hole.

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013

Today was my first day fishing. I drove from Driggs to Swan Valley, ID, about an hours drive and will float the South Fork of the Snake River today with Stacey Hill, a guide I've fished with on my last 5 trips.

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013

Here's Stacey's drift boat that we'll spend the day in on the South Fork of the Snake River.

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013

Here I am casting from the front of the drift boat. I'll spend most of the day standing in the front of the boat casting to "fishy" areas hoping to hook up.

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013

Here's the first nice fish of the day, a Cutthroat Trout.

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013

Here's the first Rainbow Trout of the trip. The fish went home with Stacey to feed his grandparents. Rainbow Trout are the only trout that's it's legal to keep on the river.

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013

Here I am casting along the riffle, hoping to find some trout. It always feels good to get out of the boat and wade the river.

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013

Here's our Lunch stop for the day.

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013

Here's a beautiful Bald Eagle watching us float down the river.

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

Here's Stacey putting the boat back into the South Fork of the Snake in the lower Canyon section.

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

Here's a juvenile Bald Eagle that was screeching for it's Mom.

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

And here's it's Mom, looking on from a tree not far away.

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

Here's the first Brown Trout for the trip. This section of river had more brown trout and fewer rainbow trout. The Brown Trout are a lot more aggressive and fun to catch.

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

Another Bald Eagle watching us float down the river.

During the past two days we floated almost 30 miles of river and saw bald eagles, osprey, whitetail deer, mule deer, 2 mink, a red tail hawk, some pelican and lot's of trout.

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

Here's the largest fish of the trip, a 19" Cutthroat Trout.

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

Here I am wading a riffle hoping to find some fish.

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

Still fishing the riffle.

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

Today was another rest day and I decided to drive over the hill into Jackson Hole, WY.

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

I drove north of Town to see if I could find the herd of Buffalo. The weren't as close as I had hoped and my camera didn't do a very good job.

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

More Buffalo.

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

Here's my first video with my new camera.

A herd of Bison just north of Jackson Hole.

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

Here's the Grand Teton.

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

Here's some of the surrounding mountains.

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

I returned back to Driggs, Idaho at the end of the day.

Friday, August 9th, 2013

Today I left the condo in Driggs, ID and drove over the hill to Jackson Hole. I met my fly fishing Guide Dave at 7:30 and we were soon on the Snake River. I caught this large cutthroat trout almost immediately. It ran so hard that we both had to jump out of the boat to chase the fish and net him.

Friday, August 9th, 2013

The Snake River outside Jackson Hole is such a beautiful river to float. Here is the Grand Teton with snow still on the top.

Friday, August 9th, 2013

Here's Dave Barbecuing burgers for lunch.

Friday, August 9th, 2013

Here's two bald eagles sitting in a tree. We also saw an Elk today.

Friday, August 9th, 2013

The fishing was much better today on the Snake than the last couple of days on the South Fork.

On to week 2
